One ampoule of 2 ml contains 200 mg of ascorbic acid (100 mg/ml).
One ampoule of 5 ml contains 500 mg of ascorbic acid (100 mg/ml).
One tablet contains 100 mg ascorbic acid (nutritional supplement).
Solution for injections: in vitamin C deficiency when oral treatment is not sufficiently effective; treatment of idiopathic methemoglobinemia in infants and small children; scurvy; viral and bacterial infections; AIDS; alcoholism; burns; neoplastic diseases; chronic hemodialysis; hyperthyroidism; peptic ulcer; intestinal diseases; pre- and postoperatively; severe traumas.
Tablets: tonicizing agent in physical and mental fatigue. For increase of the body powers of resistance in case of colds and viral infections. Additional agent in general infections and intoxications, increased capillary permeability, allergies, gingival inflammation.
The product is used parenterally - intramuscularly and intravenously.
The intramuscular dose in adults is 100 to 500 mg daily for at least 2 weeks.
The intramuscular dose in children is 100 to 300 mg daily for at least 2 weeks.
The recommended maximum intravenous dose in children up to 17 years of age is 100 mg/kg daily, up to a maximum of 6 g daily. The recommended dose in idiopathic methemoglobinemia in infants and small children is between 500 mg and 1 g daily. Tablets are administered orally in adults at a dose of 100 – 600 mg (1-6 tablets) daily, and in children at a dose of 100–300 mg (1-3 tablets) daily, divided in 1-2 intakes.
Hypersensitivity to the product; hyperoxaluria; nephrolithiasis. It is not used in high doses, especially intravenously, in patients with increased blood coagulation, thrombophlebitis, tendency to thromboses.
Vitamin C is a component of combined multivitamin products. It must not be combined in one syringe or solution for infusion with antibiotics, neuroleptics, tranquilizers, etc. In high doses, it should not be combined with insulin products and oral antidiabetic agents. Vitamin C decreases the therapeutic effect of tricyclinc antidepressants, phenothiazine derivatives and gentamicin. Vitamin C potentiates the effect of estrogens, salicylates, phenobarbital, in high doses, it prolongs prothrombin time, decreases plasma theotard levels and increases alcohol elimination. Administration of vitamin C must be discontinued 1-2 days prior to tests for glucose in urine and serum.
The product is well tolerated. In rare cases, it may induce allergic reactions.
