Drug form and composition Film-coated tablets. One film-coated tablet contains 250 mg dry extract of Tribulus terrestris L. (furostanole saponins at least 45%). Sixty count per retail pack. |

Indications Tribestan is indicated for use as a single agent or as a component of the complex therapy of the sexual disturbances. In men - impotentio coeundi, sterility due to idiopathic oligoasthenospermia and azoospermia in cases of immunological infertility; for libido elevation, increase of the erection strength and duration. In women: frigidity, endocrine ovarial sterility, climacteric and postcastration syndrome with strong vasomotor and neurasthenic manifestations. It can be used after strong physical and psychical loads, as well as to decrease the duration of the convalescent period after severe diseases.
Dosage and administration As a stimulating agent Tribestan is used in dose 1 - 2 tablets, given 3 times daily with meals. For treatment of sexual problems in men the dosage and the duration of administration depend on the characteristics and severity of the state. The most common dose is 1 - 2 tablets, 3 times daily, and very rarely 3 tablets, 3 - 4 times daily. The treatment duration is as follows: impotentio coeundi - at least 40 - 50 days, sterility - 70 - 90 days. In women the therapy also must be individualized and depends on the severity of the disease. Generally, the dose is 1 - 2 tablets, 3 times daily. In cases of postmenstrual and climacteric syndrome the treatment course lasts 60 - 90 days. After achieving improvement the dose is reduced to 2 film-coated tablets daily for another 50 - 60 days, as a maintenance dose. Tribestan can be administered in a dose of 1 tablet, 3 times daily without interruptions for a period of 1 year.
Contraindications Yet, there are not known contraindications.
Special warnings and precautions For the treatment of women in climacterium the transition from therapeutic to maintenance dose should be gradual, because after abrupt therapy discontinuation a new occurrence of the climacteric symptoms is possible. Drug administration is not recommended in children and in pregnancy and lactation.
Drug interactions It is clinically established that the concurrent administration of Tribestan with hormonal agents, stimulating ovulation in infertile women, leads to potentiation of their effects.
Adverse reactions No clinically significant adverse drug reactions have been observed.
Pharmacological mechanisms Tribestan is a drug with plant origin, which has been extracted from over the ground surface part of the plant Tribulus terrestris L. by an original technology of Sopharma. It contains at least 45% of standardized saponins of furostanole type. The general stimulating action of Tribestan on the human organism has been shown experimentally. However, the mechanisms of this action are not totally explained. In men the drug restores and improves libido sexualis and prolongs erection, stimulates spermatogenesis, and increases the number of the spermatozoids and their movements. In women the product improves libido sexualis and influences in a positive direction the vasomotor manifestations of the normal and postcastration climacterium. It has been clinically shown, that Tribestan influences the serum level of the hormones of hypophyseal-gonadal axis without disturbing the hormonal balance in the body. There are data for favorable effect on the fat metabolism, with decrease in total cholesterol in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
